CAREER SUMMARY
PRE-DEBUT
Heeseung was cast by several entertainment companies on his way out of the entrance exam (audition) of Hanlim Arts High School. One of those companies was Bighit Entertainment. Heeseung became a trainee of Bighit Entertainment in December 2016 and trained with TOMORROW x TOGETHER. In 2020, around 3 months before I-LAND began airing, Heeseung moved to BELIFT LAB, a joint venture by CJ ENM and Bighit Entertainment at the time.
In June 2020, Heeseung was one of the 24 trainees to appear on the survival audition program I-LAND, co-produced by CJ E&M and HYBE. At the time, he was the trainee with the longest training period on the show. He became one of the 7 finalists to debut as ENHYPEN, coming in fifth place by earning more than 1.1 million votes.
Heeseung trained for three years and one month before his debut.
AFTER DEBUT
In 2020, Heeseung debuted as a member of ENHYPEN, a 7-member group under BELIFT LAB, with Jungwon, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, and Ni-ki. Upon debut, he was praised for his visuals, and his vocal skills as the unofficial “main vocal” of the team.
In 2022, Heeseung released “ZERO MOMENT”, an OST for the K-Drama Summer Strike with Jay and Jake.
POSITIONS
VOCAL
Though there is no official positions within ENHYPEN, Heeseung is generally regarded as the unofficial main vocal of the team. He has been often praised for his clear, powerful vocals and sentimental falsetto, getting the most parts in ENHYPEN title tracks. His vocals especially fit well with the mid-tempo ballads and rhythmical/groovy songs in the R&B genre. Though he is most noted for his vocals, Heeseung has also been praised for his rapping skills.
DANCE
Heeseung has been consistently praised for his dancing skills since his performances on I-LAND; for the cover stage of “FAKE LOVE” by BTS, his intro modern dance sequence at the beginning earned him the highest score of the show. Heeseung’s dance style is characterized by quick and powerful moves. Heeseung is often in the center for many of ENHYPEN’s title track performances, leading the overall formation of the team by example.
