CAREER SUMMARY
PRE-DEBUT
Prior to debut, Hyein was a kid model/entertainer. Hyein was the brand model for various brands such as Tara N Co, Moximoxi, Emart Nobrand, and PRANKERS. Hyein was one of the models for the clothing brand Kipop launched by ON1 ENT, and attended the 18F/W Seoul Fashion Week. In 2019, Hyein won the Daesang (main award) for 2019 Little The Look of The Year, a competition for kid models. In 2020, Hyein was on the runway of 2020 Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.
From 2017 to 2018, Hyein was a member of the kid idol group U.SSO Girls managed by ON1 ENT, under the stage name Ujeong. Hyein was active as a member of U.SSO Girls along with Rora of BABYMONSTER.
From 2019 to 2021, Hyein was one of the starting members of Play With Me Club on the YouTube channel Pocket TV (managed under Daekyo Children’s TV), filming variety-style content, vlogs, and mock K-Pop idol auditions. Hyein played the female lead on the kids’ web drama series The Girl’s Double Life.
In 2020, Hyein was one of the “Boni Hani” crew on the Live Broadcast Talk! Talk! Boni Hani, a kids’ variety show under EBS.
In 2021, Hyein auditioned at ADOR, dancing to “Lovesick Girls” by BLACKPINK and became a trainee of ADOR. She was the last member to join the debut team that would later become NewJeans. Hyein trained for a year and two months before debut.
AFTER DEBUT
In 2022, Hyein debuted as a member of NewJeans, a 5-member group under ADOR, with Minji, Hanni, Danielle, and Haerin with “Attention.” Upon debut, Hyein received attention for her unique model-like visuals, which have been deemed “fitting the group’s y2k concept.” Her visuals have been compared to actress Kim Min Hee.
In 2022, Hyein became the brand ambassador for Louis Vuitton. In 2023, she became the global house ambassador of Louis Vuitton, the youngest global ambassador ever from the fashion house.
In 2023, Hyein was one of the MC’s for K-POP SUPER LIVE event held by the Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree.
As NewJeans have branched out to more musical genres with their first comeback, Hyein received more attention for her unique vocal tones by the general public. Her vocal tone has been praised by IU when NewJeans appeared on an episode of IU’s Palette. In 2024, Hyein was featured on IU - “Shh…” for which she earned praise for her vocal skills and captivating vocal tones.

Hyein has been praised for her vocal skills, stable live vocals, and distinctive vocal tones. Her tones complement the genre of chill/mellow R&B and hip-hop that NewJeans is known for. Hyein is the unofficial “opening fairy” of NewJeans, with most notable examples being “Attention” and the humming intro of “Ditto,” and the first verses of songs such as “Cookie,” “Hurt,” “ETA,” and “Cool With You.” Hyein has also shown her skills in singing rap for songs such as “Super Shy” and “Cool With You.” The repeating “tik-toks” of “ASAP” has also been sung by Hyein.
