Food

• Hyein loves strawberries, and all food with strawberries in them, most notably the strawberry cream cake.
• Hyein has said that she’s not a huge fan of the Hawaiian pizza, even though she likes pizza.
• Hyein loves meat, but she dislikes seafood. She has said that she would rather go hungry than eat seafood.
• Hyein prefers soft/juicy peaches to hard/crunchy ones.
• Hyein prefers carp bread filled with red bean rather than shu cream, and prefers to eat carp bread from the headrather than the tail.
• Hyein’s favorite snack is bingsu (Korean shaved ice).
• Hyein loves Korean cuisine; her taste in food has been deemed very “mature” compared to her young age.
  • She has said that she has eaten “gukbap” (a specialty of Busan, cooked rice mixed into hot boiling soup in a clay pot) every time she went to Busan, with a lot of chives.

• Hyein’s hobbies include taking walks, taking photos, and watching movies.
  • She says she feels happy feeling the weather of the day to the fullest.
• Hyein especially likes to take photos of beautiful skies, cute objets, or ocean scenery. Hyein also likes taking photos of her unnies in NewJeans.
  • The members have also said that Hyein is the best photographer in NewJeans, with her own unique sensibility and skills.

• Hyein’s favorite color is light purple.
• Hyein is a huge fan of the Harry Potter franchise, and her favorite character is Hermione.
  • Her favorite book/movie out of the franchise is Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. She has also said that she memorized almost all of the lines from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone because she has watched it so many times.
• Hyein’s favorite movies include Sleepless in Seattle, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Notting Hill, and Home Alone.
• Hyein has a wide musical spectrum; from pop classics, old-school hip-hop, K-indie, and vintage Korean music, often recommending songs that were released in the 1980s and 1990s.
  • She is also into jazz and Bossa Nova.
• Hyein loves to collect keyrings.
  • On December 14th, 2022, Hyein has said that with her first payment two months after debut, she bought about 90,000 KRW worth of keyrings (apprx. 66 USD). She has said that she felt proud that she could afford the keyrings with the money she earned herself.
• Hyein likes to write and receive letters. From when she was young, she used to often write letters to her mom even without a particular occasion.
• Hyein likes dogs; her favorite breeds are the golden retriever and bichon frise.
• Hyein dislikes the horror genre and scares easily.

• Hyein is skilled at doing voices, and is one of the best actresses of the team. She is especially skilled at mimicking the members of NewJeans.
• Hyein has bad eyesight, so she has to wear contacts or glasses. In 2023, Hyein bought a pair of rimless glassesthat started a new fashion trend in South Korea and in the global K-Pop fandom.
  • Rimless glasses have been out of fashion in Korea for a while, but with the early 2000s-style coming back,Hyein’s rimless glasses look have fallen in with the new emerging fashion trend of “geek-chic.”
• Jeon Somi has mentioned Hyein on an episode of Radio Star, saying that she is a fan of Hyein and that she would like to get to know her better.
  • Jeon Somi and Hyein share the same makeup artist, and Jeon Somi has asked the makeup artist to pass along the message to Hyein.
  • Sooyoung of Girls’ Generation has also said that Hyein is her bias in NewJeans through her Instagram account.
