YEONJUN - SOOBIN

• Yeonjun and Soobin are the two eldest members of TXT.
  • Yeonjun is the oldest member, born in 1999, and Soobin is the leader of the group.
• Thus, the two are the “hyungs” of the group, or “older brothers” in Korean.
• “Hyunga” is a childish/cute colloquial variation of “hyung.”

• Yeonjun and Beomgyu were the two members who very noticeably donned wigs to hide their true hair colors before TXT’s first comeback with “Cat & Dog.”
• Soobin was also one of the wigwearerz, for the one episode of After School Club on ArirangTV, but quit wearing the wig after the episode when it looked too awkward.

• In Korean, nyang is “meow,” but it can just mean “cat.”

• Yeonjun and Taehyun have many overlapping preferences and tastes.
• The two are also the members to have spent the longest time as trainees together before debut, and thus have known each other the longest.
  • During their trainee years, they also went to the US together for a trainee bootcamp.

• Yeonjun and Taehyun are the two members of TXT whotheir participated in the collaboration track “PS5,” with Alan Walker and salem ilese.
• The track had a TikTok dance challenge that Yeonjun has created, which both members participated in and uploaded on the official channel.

YEONJUN - HUENINGKAI

• Yeonjun and Hueningkai are the two TXT members with the most similar personalities to each other. Thus, the chemistry name originates from calling Yeonjun and Hueningkai “two Yeonjuns,” as they are like carbon copies of each other.
• As trainees, they were both ENFPs (Hueningkai has now changed to an ISTP), with active, social, and passionate about their emotions.
  • Thus, the Bighit staff around them started calling Yeonjun “big Hueningkai” and Hueningkai “small Yeonjun” because they were so similar.
• After their debut, Hueningkai has actually grown taller than Yeonjun.

• In 2023, Yeonjun and Hueningkai appeared on an episode of STUDIO CHOOM’s MIX & MAX series together. The channel started calling them “mixmaxboyz.”

• On Soobin’s birthday in 2019, Beomgyu uploaded a tweet saying, “thank you for being my best friend” or “단짝” in Korean.
• The chemistry name has been translated to “bestmatez” because of how it shares the same word “단짝” with “영혼의 단짝즈”/”soulmatez” for the Yeonjun - Taehyun chemistry.

• Soobin was born in 2000, and Beomgyu was born in 2001, making Soobin a “hyung” (older brother) to Beomgyu by the Korean age system.
• However, their birthdays are only 3 months apart. Accordingly, they treat each other like friends without honorifics, or Beomgyu often addresses Soobin without the “hyung” in casual situations.

• “Choding” is slang in Korea for “elementary school students” or for making fun of someone who’s older but acts in a childish or immature way.
• When Soobin and Beomgyu are together, they often act like little kids.

• Their interactions have led to the fandom calling the two “trustz,” for the level of strong trust and support between them.
• Taehyun has stated that MOAs that are specifically fans of this pairing could be called “beliefs” (믿음이).

• In a V-app live “Clean Yutnori with TXT,” Beomgyu has called Soobin and Taehyun on his team as the two brains of TXT.
• Soobin is specialized to excel in humanities-related subjects, while Taehyun is more specialized to excel in science/math-related subjects.

SOOBIN - HUENINGKAI

• They like to cuddle and show cute interactions with each other in close physical proximity. In Korean, if you stick close to a specific person physically, you’re called a “(someone)’s gum” (껌딱지).
• Soobin and Hueningkai each claim that the other person is his “gum,” that the other person clings to them.

• 우뿌, or oohbbu is the acronym for the series name.

Humanities vs. Sciences

• Beomgyu embodies the classic Korean stereotype of someone who would major in the humanities, and Taehyun embodies the classic Korean stereotype of someone who would major in the sciences.
• In Korean high schools, students have to choose a “track” between the humanities and the sciences, later affecting the type of SATs they take and the university majors that they can apply to. This leads to “humanities-type” people stereotypes (strong sensibility) and “sciences-type” people stereotypes (strong rationality).

BEOMGYU - HUENINGKAI

• gyukatz is a combination of Beomgyu and Hueningkai’s names, taking “gyu” from Beomgyu, “ka” from Hueningkai, and adding the “z” at the end to signal that it’s a name of the pairing/chemistry.
• gyukatz also sounds like a Japanese dish called “gyukatsu,” which is popular in Korea. Gyukatsu is a beef cutlet lightly seared over a stone grill.

• ggyuningz is a combination of Beomgyu and Hueningkai’s names, taking “ggyu” from Beomgyu, “ning” from Hueningkai, and adding the “z” at the end to signal that it’s the name of the pairing/chemistry.

TAEHYUN - HUENINGKAI

• huekangz is a combination of Hueningkai and Taehyun’s names. The “hue” comes from Hueningkai, and the “Kang” comes from Taehyun’s last name.
• The word “휴강” in Korean also means “the (university) class has been cancelled,” meaning students can take a surprise break.

• Taehyun and Hueningkai have similar voice tones, clear and high.
• When one MOA said “it’s quite hard to tell the two voices apart,” Taehyun has replied with “I can’t tell organic and regular honey apart from taste either,” leading MOAs to call the two of them “honeybeez.”

• Ningdoong, a combination of “ning” from Hueningkai and “doong” for “~’s lovers/fans” (~둥이), is a word meaning fans that have Hueningkai as their bias in TXT.
• Soobin and Taehyun are the two members of the team who especially give a lot of loving attention to Hueningkai, the maknae of the team.

• Taehyun has named the three members that do not belong in the “trustz”/”brainz” pairing (Taehyun and Soobin) as “dumbdumbdumbz.”
• dumbdumbdumbz stands for Dumb, Dumber, and Dumbest. This is in reference to the 1994 comedy film Dumb and Dumber starring Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels. In Korea, the movie is often used as slang to call a duo/group that’s acting more chaotic and stupid when they’re together (in a joking manner).

  • The original hanlimz were only Beomgyu and Taehyun, but Hueningkai moved schools to join them, and they began to be called “new hanlimz.”
• These three are also the “youngest” members of TXT and are thus the “dongsaeng line” or “younger brother line” of the group.
