CAREER SUMMARY
PRE-DEBUT
Taehyun has made appearances in a variety of commercials as a child for products including TunTunEnglish, Dettol handwash, Pororo toy laptop, Thirsty Hippo moisture absorber, and many others. He had a fan cafe in Daum dedicated to him from 2008, when he was just 6 years old. Taehyun was a fan of SHINee growing up, and nurtured dreams of becoming an idol through them.
Taehyun enrolled in Hanlim Arts School in Seoul, a prestigious school with the highest attendance by trainee and idol students, as a practical music major. He sang “Sing For You” by EXO in his audition for Hanlim Arts School, and on his entrance ceremony day, he received 20 business cards from scouting managers.
In 2016, he was scouted by a Bighit Entertainment casting manager and became a trainee of Bighit Entertainment after auditioning with the song “I’ll Protect You” by Kim Jae-joong. He was a trainee for 3 years before his debut in 2019.
AFTER DEBUT
In 2019, Taehyun debuted as a member of TXT, a 5-member group under Bighit Entertainment, with Yeonjun, Soobin, Beomgyu, and Hueningkai with “CROWN.” Upon debut, Taehyun was recognized for his vocal skills and doll-like visuals.
In 2021, Taehyun was a radio DJ on EBS FM radio with Hueningkai on a program called Listen by TOMORROW X TOGETHER, from January 10th to May 2nd.
In 2023, Taehyun got his own web variety series called Academy Reincarnation, in which Taehyun experiences different “lifetimes” by meeting people from different walks of life and learning a variety of skill sets such as magic tricks, ice hockey, pet grooming, and more. The series is uploaded on the Funniest Pawnshop YouTube channel (”웃음 최고가 매입”) every Friday at 8 PM, KST.

TXT has no official positions other than leader (Soobin).
VOCAL
Taehyun is generally regarded as the main vocal of TXT (not an official position). He sings a lot of ad-libs and high notes for TXT tracks. Taehyun has a wide range and a strong voice and is said to have “sweet” and “soft” tones. However, depending on the genre of TXT tracks, Taehyun has also shown variety, switching up his vocal techniques to make his voice sound more rugged and fit for punkier songs.
DANCE
Taehyun is generally praised for his dance skills, as he makes his moves seem lightweight and excels with quick, powerful steps. Even though he is the shortest member of the team (all of the other members in TXT are over 180cm in height), Taehyun’s dance skills still make him stand out among the five. Taehyun has had his own dance break section for the performance of “Opening Sequence.”
